History - Hospice of North Central Ohio

History

For 30 years, Hospice of North Central Ohio has been a leader in making the final months of life and the grief journey as joyful, comfortable, and meaningful as possible.

As the hospice movement became more prominent in the United States, efforts by community volunteers to establish local hospices began, leading to the establishment of Hospice of Knox County in 1982 and Hospice of Ashland County in 1988. As our service area expanded, Hospice of Ashland County became Hospice of North Central Ohio (HNCO).

In 2014, HNCO merged with Hospice of Knox County and now maintains Hospice of Ashland County, Hospice of Knox County, and Hospice of Richland County to best provide local care to patients in those and surrounding areas.

What Goes 'Round Thrift Shoppe opened in the Carrousel District in Mansfield in September of 2008. All proceeds from the Shoppe support Hospice of North Central Ohio.

To provide comfort and management strategies to those with chronic illnesses, HNCO established Life’s Seasons Palliative Care in 2015.
