About Hospice of North Central Ohio
Hospice of North Central Ohio is a nonprofit, community-oriented organization. Our dedicated professionals are driven to make a difference in the lives of those we serve, and we are blessed to do so with our community's support. Hospice of North Central Ohio is an agency of the United Way of Ashland County, Shelby United Fund, New London United Fund, and Mohican Area Community Fund. To better serve the community, we are affiliated with We Honor Veterans, Midwest Care Alliance, and National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. We also work closely with local nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Our Mission
In order to affirm life and recognize death as a natural process, Hospice will care for patients and their loved ones, empower them to cope with terminal illness to enhance the quality of life as they prepare for a peaceful and dignified death, and continuously improve the delivery of quality care. We will assist and serve as a resource in the processes of death, dying, grief, and bereavement.
Our Leaders
Linda Hickey is the Executive Director of Hospice of North Central Ohio. Christopher Boyd, M.D., Ajay Chawla, M.D, and Katherine Hess, M.D., are the medical directors. As a community organization, Hospice of North Central Ohio is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors.

Our History
As the Hospice movement became more prominent in the United States, efforts to establish a local Hospice in North Central Ohio began, leading to the hiring of the first executive director in the fall of 1988. In January of 1989, Hospice of North Central Ohio served its first patient and family.
Positive community support led to our growth. In 1989, 29 patients were served by a staff of three who cared for an average of 4 patients each day. Currently, a staff of 82, along with over 267 trained volunteers, care for an average of 113 patients each day. Last year, Hospice of North Central Ohio cared for more than 669 patients. We continue to grow to meet the needs of our community.

Our Locations
We provide care wherever our patients call home, however, we offer inpatient services and respite care at Hospice House, located at 1050 Dauch Drive in Ashland, Ohio. We also have an office in Mansfield, Ohio at 371 Cline Avenue. We serve Ashland, Richland, Crawford and Huron Counties.
